Imperial City Tour Of Morocco
Imperial City Tour Of Morocco
When you have only one chance to see a country as grand as Morocco then an eight day Imperial city tour of the country could be an option for your holiday. There are a variety of different things to see in each city and while you may not have a chance to see everything you can still get a great feel for the history and culture that is deep seated in the soil of Morocco. While the vacation may seem busy it is one of the best ways to catch some great scenery while travelling between each city.
Eight days five grand cities:
When you start to plan your vacation and tour of the cities of Morocco then you are going to want to start in Casablanca. Day number one and two sees you arriving in the city and relaxing before embarking on a sightseeing tour of the countries principal city. It contains the largest port in the country Maghreb which is actually busier than Marseille in France. You should make it a point to see the central market the Habous district the Royal Palace the Hassan II Mosque the Anfa residential area and the Mohamed V Square. Enjoy some lunch and dinner and then take a ride to Rabat 90 kilometers away for dinner and a great sleep at your next hotel.
Day three by way of example will have you seeing Moroccos capital of Rabat which has a very European atmosphere and design. Here the best sites to visit are: the Medina with the Kasbah of the Oudayas; the Mohamed V Mausoleum; the Mosque; the ramparts and walls of Mechouar that surround the Royal Palace; and the Hassan Tower. Be forewarned that you may not be able to enter the mosques as many do not allow nonMuslim within their walls. Some have limited tours that do allow you inside but they are very structured. Catch some lunch and then head out to Meknes through Volubilis and Moulay Idris. You will be able to see the provincial Roman capital and the area in which the first Arab dynasty was born. There is not much to see on this road but magnificent scenery. You will arrive in Fez in time for dinner and some rest after traveling 180 kilometers.
Fez is a grand city that will require a full day tour in order to see what is so special. This holy city is very much an example of the SpanishArabic civilization and the city itself likes to unveil its secret slowly. There is plenty to see and do in Fez including but not limited to: the medina; Moulay Idriss; the Andalusia mosque; the Rsif Mosque; the Kissaria shopping area; El Attarine souk; the Boujeloud gate; the Museum of Moroccan Art; and some general shopping to find some of the most unique handmade gifts possible. Fez will take up your entire fourth day and after dinner you can crawl into your bed exhausted and ready for some rest filled with interesting dreams of Moroccan culture and the rest of your Morocco holiday.
Day five finds you leaving Fez and heading to Marrakech. Once on your way a 485 kilometer journey you will get to see the ski resort of Ifrane and the village of Azrou. Azrou is most well known for its handicrafts and majestic cedar woods of the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. You can stop in Beni Mellal a Berber city and agricultural centre for lunch and some light touring to stretch your legs before heading on to Marrakech. When you arrive why not take in a show before settling in for the night? Day six is going to have you discovering the joys of Marrakech a city well known in a variety of different ways from literature to movies and more.
Marrakech is as modern as it is historic and touring the city will encompass everything in between. When you make your plans for the day try to include the following sites: the Menara pool with its Moorish construction and Atlas mountains framing it; the Koutoubia Minaret the twin of the la Giralda Tower in Sevilla Spain; the Saadian tombs discovered in 1917; the Museum of Dar Si Said with its Berber arts and crafts; the ruins of the Badii Palace; the Bahia Palace in the Jewish quarter; the Jamaa El Fna Square with its musicians; and the many different and colorful souks where souvenirs can be had. Dine at one of the many restaurants the city offers and enjoy more music or take in a show. On day seven you can travel back to Casablanca and enjoy one last night in the city that inspired a movie before heading home.
A Morocco Trip simply cannot be appreciated on a single visit but an eight day tour of the countrys Imperial cities is one way of allowing you to get a taste of what this country has to offer. You can spend more or less time each as you please and hopefully you will come back and visit each city that captures your heart more thoroughly.
