Finding Accommodation in Lanzarote

Lanzarote is one of the most popular destination in the Spanish owned Canaries. The seven strong island chain that is located just off the coast of West Africa. As the island enjoys fabulous weather and is home to over 90 great beaches and a wide array of fascinating visitor attractions.
Holidays in Lanzarote are especially popular with tourists from the UK and Eire – who account for a combined total of around one million visitors a year. Along with hundreds of thousands of arrivals from Germany and mainland Spain. As the Canaries offer a cooler climate than the peninsula during the intense heat of the summer months.
The island is home to an assortment of fascinating attractions and natural wonders. The best known of which is the Timanfaya National Park – where visitors can gaze in awe at hundreds of now dormant volcanoes. Which burst from the ground during the 1730´s in what was one of the modern worlds largest ever volcanic episodes.
This activity had an impact on other parts of the island too – such as at El Golfo. Where an emerald colour lagoon has been created by the interaction between algae, sea water and volcanic minerals. Resulting in a green coloured lake set in a black sand beach. A sight that is so dramatic and surreal that it has been used as a film location for productions such as One Million Years BC.
Lanzarote´s beaches are also out of this world too – with close to 100 to explore. Many of the beaches in the main resorts are in fact man made using sand imported from the Sahara Desert – the outer fringes of which are located around 100 miles away. Whilst outside of the resorts there are superb stretches of sand such as Famara and Caleton Blanco to explore.
Around half of all visitors to the island choose to book hotel accommodation in Lanzarote. As there are plenty of good value four star establishments available – especially in the resort of Playa Blanca at the southern end of the island.
Whilst others opt instead for self careering accommodation. With thousands of privately owned villas in Lanzarote available for rent across the island. At surprisingly reasonable prices too.
